The first day is broken up into two parts. The morning is the ASLS Provider Skill Check and the ASLS Instructor course is in the afternoon, The second day is the monitoring portion of the instructor course.
ASLS instructor candidates must meet certain requirements before taking the Instructor Initial Course and before attending the hands-on session. All instructor candidates must:

- Be at least 18 years of age
- Be aligned with an AHA Training Center. Instructor candidates must have a Training Center that has agreed to accept them as an instructor once they have completed Instructor Essentials and once their monitoring is completed. EMR Safety and Health is currently accepting new instructors.
- Have a current AHA ASLS Combined Provider course completion card.
- Complete the Instructor Essentials Course
- Be proficient in the skills of ASLS. Instructor candidates must attend and complete a one-day hands-on monitoring session where their skills are tested
The Hands-on Monitoring Session of the ASLS Instructor Initial Course
This is a one-day session where your ASLS skills and knowledge will be tested. Please bring your instructor manual and your Instructor Essentials Online Course completion certificate. Review both the agenda and the instructor manual before coming to class so that you get the most out of the Instructor Essentials Course and are familiar with the materials for skills evaluation of your students.
